10 Steps to buying a Franchise Business, Step 6 – Visit the Franchisor

In the Beehive everyone trusts each other, everyone has their role to play and they rely on each other to complete their jobs in the right order and the right time for the higher mission of the colony. The definition of a colony is a group of people of one nationality or ethnic group living in a foreign city or country. So why do we trust someone belonging to our colony? Because they have common values and beliefs. When we are surrounded by people who believe what we believe, trust emerges, then magic happens.

OK it’s all going well and you have done all your research and it’s all very exciting and you want to take it to the next stage. And that next step is to visit and meet with the franchisor.

Everything in life is a relationship. This begins with our relationship with ourselves and then with the people around us. The first impression we make is based on emotion. The feminine energy, your Limbic brain will kick in and deep inside you will know straight away if this is going to work or not…

Did you know that people make an assumption about you within seven seconds of meeting you; that’s a very short time to decide whether they are going to like you or not. Apparently, it then takes 23 subsequent meetings to change a person’s mind about you.

The majority of first impressions are based on non-verbal communications according to a study done by ULCA:

  • 55% of people base their first impression on body language and personal appearance: the visual,
  • 38% of people base their first impression on what you say: the vocal, and
  • 7% of people base their first impression on the words you use: the vocabulary.

You need to make a positive impact and in order to do so that first impression is crucial. Once the initial first impression is done, it’s time to go down to business…

Time to get any final questions answered and to meet any other people working with the Franchisors who will be helping you get your business up and running.

Although you may think this is just a formality, it is actually a very important part to make sure first that you are ‘click’ with the Franchisor, you are entering a partnership, it’s like getting married in a way, it must feel right with the Franchisor and you must completely comfortable and confident in the company you are about to enter into business with.

Also, keep in mind that they will be carefully evaluating you as a potential franchisee at the same time, so this final judgment is a two-way street. People buy people. Whatever you do, people will buy your product or service and do business with you because they like you, trust you and know you are going to do what is right for them and your Franchisor will know that and it will be a big part of his impression on you and whether he wants you to represent his brand…
