Business is buzzing

Did you read that article in the JEP last Saturday in page 6? Heather Chalmers was talking to Bob Hogge, president of the “Jersey Beekeepers Society”. It was nice to hear that 2014 is going to be a wonderful honey crop, and despite the decline of Bees on the island, the beekeepers are looking at a great harvesting.

Bod mentioned that the decline of the Bees wasn’t just down to pesticides but also because the fact that we don’t have as many wild flowers as we used to have in our Jersey Fields. I can’t stop thinking this is a similar situation as our local retailers’ decline, perhaps the downturn, in local businesses, isn’t just because of the big WWW…

How can businesses thrive during this unsecured time? For me, there is only one answer, and that is only by providing consistently excellent customer service.

Businesses need to ensure that every step they take, every move they make, is focused on the customer. But not just on the external customers, those who come through the front doors, it is crucial to look after the internal customers too, those who walk through your back doors, they are the one who are going to look after the customers who walk through the front door… if you see what I mean…

By delivering consistently an unforgettable customer experience, you are building loyalty, and loyalty is the most influential element driving purchase decision today. It costs 6–7 times more to acquire a new customer than retain an existing one – Bain & Company.

So, don’t wait until you have no more customers to serve; now is the time to act and put in place real changes to look after your Customers, and get your business buzzing.
